State Certification Courageous Equity Leadership

Rationale: State Department of Education understands the importance of building leadership capacity for school leaders in the area of Educational Equity. Department of Education and local districts are being challenged to provide leadership staff development which focuses on strategies to improve instruction to close the achievement gap. More recently, districts have aligned their focus to providing Equity-based training to assist leadership development.

Certification Process

In five modules, the certification process provides a systemic approach to implementing the Key Principles of Equity™; participants will have access to research-based activities and materials to ensure student success. The training provides the user a deeper knowledge of how the concept of Educational Equity improves the academic outcomes for all student groups. The trainings are organized to have the participants’ access to activities, articles and support materials to deepen their skill-sets as a leader to implement Equity and leader school transformation. Each participant will be provided with a toolkit binder to assist in the site or district implementation. The five key areas of the certification process targets: Key principles of Equity, Implementing Equity Professional Learning Communities, Implementing Culturally Conscious Instructional Strategies, Skills to Coaching Teacher and Implementing District and Site Equity Goal and Objectives.

The certification process provides on-line support to sustaining the training learning objectives. The subsequent documents outline the key standards of the certification process and description of practice.
